UScellular Partners with Rockwell to Bring Private 5G to Industrial Automation

Manufacturing Private LTE and 5G

Vertical: Manufacturing

Application: Industry 4.0

Ecosystem:  UScellular

Private Network: 5G

UScellular, a leading wireless carrier in the United States, has announced a new collaboration with Rockwell Automation, a prominent industrial automation company. This partnership aims to introduce private 5G networks into Rockwell’s cutting-edge manufacturing laboratory, paving the way for enhanced connectivity and innovation in the industrial sector.

UScellular will deploy a private 5G cellular network at the Connected Enterprise Lab at Rockwell Automations’ Mayfield Heights, Ohio location. This state-of-the-art facility serves as a testing ground for emerging technologies and their applications in industrial environments.

The integration of UScellular’s private 5G network into Rockwell’s laboratory will enable the exploration of new use cases and possibilities for Industry 4.0 applications. Private 5G networks offer numerous advantages over traditional connectivity solutions, including increased security, reliability, low latency, and the ability to support a vast number of connected devices.

Rockwell’s Connected Enterprise Lab is designed to simulate real-world manufacturing scenarios, allowing companies to test and validate new technologies before implementing them in their operations. With the addition of UScellular’s private 5G network, the center can now explore the potential of 5G in areas such as remote operations, predictive maintenance, and real-time monitoring of industrial processes.

“The future of Industry 4.0 and supply chain management will increasingly involve digital technologies and solutions designed to transform the manufacturing industry by providing an integrated experience between public and private cellular networks,” said Kim Kerr, senior vice president of enterprise sales and operations for UScellular.

The partnership between UScellular and Rockwell Automation underscores the growing importance of 5G networks in various industries, particularly in the realm of manufacturing and automation. As businesses continue to embrace digital transformation and Industry 4.0 initiatives, the demand for robust, secure, and high-performance connectivity solutions will continue to rise.

“UScellular and their private cellular network expertise will help Rockwell Automation in our journey to deliver the latest in advanced networking technology to our customers. Together, we’re not just addressing current market needs but delivering a best-of-both-worlds technology landscape that will shape the future of Industrial & IoT Networking,” said Dan DeYoung, Global Vice President of Product Management and PMO, Rockwell Automation.
