Butachmie Secures Chemical Plant from Toxic Emissions and Cyber-Attacks

Chemical plant

Vertical: Chemical plant

Application: Cybersecurity and physical security

Ecosystem: Orange Business Services and Nokia

Private Network: 4G/5G

Butachimie, a major French manufacturer of polymer intermediates for nylon in its Chalampé plant in Alsace, France, entered into agreements with Orange Business Service and Nokia as part of its digital transformation plan. Orange Business Service contributes to the design of a secure 4G Private Network.

The private network is based on Nokia’s core network and Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions. Butachimie connects all its equipment and assets to make their geolocation visible and traceable by technicians.  Nokia supplies a dedicated core as well as RAN equipment, to keep all the data on-site.

Both the factory equipment and the data it generates will be visible on the network at all times to prevent failures and ensure continuous production.

Other use cases include push-to-talk with intercom, digitization of processes, and a tool to manage the plant’s communication devices.
