Private Network: 5G
Open RAN 5G provider IS-Wireless will deploy a private wireless network for Riga Technical University (RTU), the largest university in Latvia. The network will provide support for educational and research purposes.
First established in 1862, RTU now houses nine faculties, including Computer Science & Information Technology, Electrical & Environmental Engineering, and Electronics & Telecommunications.
As a member of the O-RAN Alliance, IS-Wireless is actively driving adoption of Open RAN networks globally. The company is involved in multiple Open RAN deployments across the world, helping to accelerate the industry’s shift toward open and interoperable 5G solutions. Through its work with the O-RAN Alliance and real-world Open RAN projects, IS-Wireless is establishing itself as a leader in next-generation radio access network technology. The company’s expertise in Open RAN will be invaluable as communication service providers increasingly look to deploy flexible and supplier-agnostic 5G networks built on open standards.
“The deployment of the private 5G network at RTU is perfectly aligned with global trends in the field of mobile networks,” said IS-Wireless CEO Sławomir Pietrzyk. “Interest in private 5G and Open RAN networks is picking up rapidly in Europe. Deployments we’re running in Poland, Germany, UK, and other places are proof of that. I am happy to see such a numerous group, coming from diverse backgrounds gathered around the idea of building networks in the Open RAN model and making the most of the private 5G potential.”
