Nokia and Sigma Wireless have formed a strategic alliance to implement a 4G/LTE private mobile network throughout Ireland within the next three years. This collaboration aims to boost connectivity and facilitate advanced communication solutions specifically tailored for the utility industry. Through their combined efforts, Nokia and Sigma Wireless are poised to revolutionize Ireland’s digital infrastructure by offering dependable and secure connectivity options that support crucial operations.

The partnership between Nokia and Sigma Wireless will involve the establishment of a private LTE network for the Electricity Supply Board’s (ESB) smart grid project in Ireland. As the largest energy utility in the country, ESB will leverage this advanced infrastructure to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and security of its smart grid operations in line with ESB’s “Networks for Net Zero” initiative, as outlined in Ireland’s Climate Action Plan. The implementation of the private LTE network will elevate the overall stability and responsiveness of the grid.
