Vertical: Logistics
Application: AGV, improved communications, autonomous mobile robots
Ecosystem: Ericsson
Private Network: 5G
Global logistics provider CJ Logistics has partnered with Ericsson to roll out an innovative private 5G network at its Ichiri distribution center in South Korea – representing the logistics industry’s first full-scale commercial-grade deployment. Implementing Ericsson’s Private 5G solution with just 22 radio access points, the next-generation connectivity boosts productivity through precise tracking, automated fleets, and real-time coordination across 400+ warehouses.
Since deployment, CJ Logistics has achieved a 20% productivity surge at Ichiri by optimizing processes like inventory picking with 5G precision. The transition from 300 Wi-Fi access points to dedicated private 5G also enables self-guided vehicles to navigate safely at higher speeds by eliminating blind spots.
With scalability critical given massive global operations, CJ Logistics chose Ericsson Private 5G for its rapid deployment potential through an extensive partner ecosystem. The pre-integrated, end-to-end platform provides reliable, localized 4G and 5G connectivity while securing data on-site – adaptably supporting diverse digitization use cases.
As Sangcheon Ryu, CIO of CJ Logistics emphasizes, seamless wireless connectivity serves as the backbone enabling coordinated automation and data flows across complex logistics environments. For an industry forecasted to reach $14 trillion by 2028, purpose-built private 5G delivers the performance and scale to drive competitiveness.
Thomas Norén, Head of Dedicated Networks, Ericsson, says: “Our work with CJ Logistics is a groundbreaking example of the benefits a private 5G network can bring to a business.
