Bosch safeguards drivers against accidents with a bird’s eye view of traffic

Vertical: Automotive

Application: Automotive security

Ecosystem: City of Ulm, German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Mercedes-Benz, Nokia, Osram, and TomTom, University of Duisburg-Essen

Private Network: 5G

Bosch’s MEC-View project provides a “birds’ eye view” of traffic around a block for drivers who are otherwise unable to see around intersections, landmarks, and buildings. By capturing Panoptic views with streetside cameras, it becomes possible to map them on screens that drivers can see inside their cars to avoid unsuspected accident risks. In addition, due to the low-latency communications on private LTE, MEC networks, capturing and displaying the high bandwidth imagery in real-time becomes possible. Bosch has deployed the thoroughly tested version of the project in Peachstreet Corners in Georgia in its Curiosity Lab, a 5G private network.
