Vertical: Mining
Application: Improved capacity and coverage
Ecosystem: Rajant, STRACONTech
Private Network: LTE
The Constancia copper mine in southern Peru has upgraded its wireless network performance, increasing its capacity from 10 to 40 Mbps. Rajant Corporation and STRACONTEch have helped the mine improve their existing LTE network, allowing communications to be maintained over both LTE and Wi-Fi.
“Our mining operation needed a better design for its haulage and loading fleet. With the Rajant hybrid solution, we now have a significant increase in bandwidth, which will allow us to be more efficient,” said Eduardo Rojas, IT Manager in Hudbay.
STRACONTech provides integrated technology services to the mining sector. Rajant Corporation supplies broadband communications technology to more than 80 countries for a variety of industries.
“All mining operations want reliable and scalable connectivity. We successfully improved the performance of the installed LTE network using the Peregrine LTE, which offers the unique benefit of Kinetic Mesh and direct machine-to-machine connectivity,” said Sagar Chandra, Rajant Vice President of Sales (Americas/APAC).
Mining is the third-highest industry user for private networks per the GSA, trailing only manufacturing and education.
