CSPs’ dream of being suppliers of high-margin digital services is coming to fruition, albeit in collaboration with an ecology of partners. Cloud companies like Microsoft Azure and Amazon Wireless Services are the keystones to the transition to become innovating networks with the IT platforms they bring to communication networks. As networks migrate to cloud-native networks, they also become programmable with additional elements such as RAN Intelligent Controllers (RIC). As the table shows below, third-party developers are a reality now and will grow faster going forward.
