Private Network Business Model: Deutsche Telecom provides campus network

BMW collaborates with NVIDIA to use its Omniverse Enterprise platform, including its NVIDIA Isaac platform for robotics. The platform uses AI technology to integrate its design processes and manufacturing operations in all its thirty-one factories.

Deutsche Telekom provides BMW 5G SA private networks installed in its factories with  (URLLC) specifications for SA 5G with dual-slice private LTE ‘campus network”.

BMW gains an overarching view of its manufacturing and design processes on its digital twins in Omniverse. Designers across the world create a virtual space in 3D to collaborate. Robots run manufacturing operations on shop floors unless they need human assistance. Humans monitor robots with a 5G connection and modify their actions with teleoperations technologies. Data received from the embedded sensors read the movements of robots and Nvidia’s AI technology analyzes the data to uncover opportunities for optimization.

The new technology architecture aligns with BMW’s business strategy for the mass customization of cars for customer micro-segments. Design and manufacturing integration shorten the lead time to bring new models to market. As a result, 99 percent of the 2.5 million vehicles that BMW produces each year are custom built.
